SFA Chapter Essay Submission Wins at National!
Our own 7th grade essay contest winner,
Margaret Russell, won both the District VIII competition
and the 2024 National competition!
Margaret was awarded a certificate and a $50 check for her District win, and a certificate, a plaque, and a $500 check for her national win. Additionally, Margaret received a silver coin pendant worth $250 as a special gift from our President General, Carol Steakley. Thank you, Mrs. Steakley, for your generous gift! Margaret was the winner of the 4th grade national competition as well!
On May 28th, Debi Pantalion and I met with Julia and Brian Russell, along with Margaret and her siblings William and Abigail, at their home to present Margaret with all her awards. Margaret was thrilled with her prizes, and we are all so proud of her. Only one little Russell left for the essay contests, but no pressure, Abigail.
SFA Chapter President Named New District VIII Representative
Milli Pope, our chapter president was elected our new District VIII Representative. She is replacing Marilyn Wade, who previously held the position. It is a DRT national Board of Management position, and her role will be to act as liaison between the 18 chapters in District VIII and the Board.
In response to her new challenge, Milli said, "It is a big role, but I look forward to getting to know all the chapters in our area."
